10 second timer
A ten second timer, running in your browser with a sound at the end. Ten seconds is the classic countdown: the last stretch before something starts, and the standard delay on a camera self-timer.

How it works
- Tap Start. The ring empties as the ten seconds run down.
- Use it as a countdown before you begin: the last ten seconds of a rest, or the run-up to a photo.
- A tone marks the end, so you can look away.
- Want it on your phone with a quick-start widget? Open the same timer in NanoTimer.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a ten second timer used for?
- Mostly as a run-up rather than a task: the countdown before a lift, a sprint or a recording starts. It is also the usual delay on a camera self-timer, which is long enough to press the button and get back in frame.
- Is ten seconds long enough to rest?
- Not really, and that is the point of the Tabata format, where the ten second gap between rounds is a breath rather than a recovery. If you want an actual rest between sets, thirty to ninety seconds is the usual range.
- Can I start it hands-free?
- In the app, yes. NanoTimer registers a timer shortcut, so you can start one from Siri, Spotlight or the Action Button without opening anything.
