Chelsea WOD timer

Chelsea is Cindy on a leash: the same round of 5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups and 15 air squats, but every minute on the minute for thirty minutes. Finish the round, rest what is left of the minute, go again.

How it works

  1. The timer runs thirty one-minute windows. Start a round at the top of each.
  2. Whatever time you have left in the minute is your rest. Fast rounds buy rest; slow rounds do not.
  3. You are done when you can no longer start a round on time. Note the minute you failed at, that is your score.
  4. Most people can hold ten to fifteen minutes before the rest disappears entirely.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when I cannot finish a round in the minute?
That is the end of the workout, and the minute you stopped at is your result. Some gyms let you keep going and count total rounds instead. Pick one and use the same rule every time, otherwise the numbers are not comparable.
How is Chelsea different from Cindy?
Same round, opposite pressure. Cindy rewards a pace you can hold for twenty minutes; Chelsea forces a fixed pace and the only variable is how much rest you earn. Chelsea is harder for most people because the clock will not let you slow down.
Should I scale to finish thirty minutes?
Yes, if you want the intended stimulus. Chelsea is meant to be a long grind with shrinking rest, not a three-minute failure. Scale the pull-ups or push-ups so the first rounds take around forty seconds.
